If I didn’t stress it in my review of the first Interstellar trailer, I am so excited for Interstellar. I don’t remember mentioning this, but it is my single most anticipated movie of 2014. Guardians of the Galaxy was number 2 (and I’ll see tonight if it lives up to the hype), but I am so excited for this movie. It is actually the lock screen background on my iPod Touch. Yeah, I’m excited and now we have a new trailer for Interstellar that only raises my excitement!
This trailer aired at Comic-Con last week and I’m so thankful that it was released to the public unlike some other trailers… (Avengers Age of Ultron, I’m looking at you.) Regardless, I’m surprised that this movie was promoted at Comic-Con because from the look of this trailer and the professionalism of Christopher Nolan, this looks more like an Oscar film.
I really mean that too, this trailer shows that the movie will have a great blend of emotion ad intrigue. Many of the scenes you see were in the first trailer, but the family scenes especially are elaborated on. There are more emotional family scenes, but the cooler part is that we see more of the exploration aspects of the film.
I’ll also add I like that we see more from Anne Hathaway and Casey Affleck in this trailer because Anne Hathaway is supposed to be one of the leads, but the first trailer didn’t really convey that.
The trailer also has stunning visual effects, and great settings that look like different planets. We gotta talk about this: that final shot, oh my God! That final shot in the trailer was the mini-cherry on top of the regular cherry on top of the sundae that is going to be Interstellar. That planet, or it may be a wormhole, or whatever it is looks very grim, yet also somewhat promising, and it leads to all kinds of speculation. Like I was pretty confident the thing at the end of the first trailer was a wormhole and this trailer all but confirms that, but this planet/star looking entity is very intriguing.
I really hope this movie is great, and this trailer is raising my expectations even higher. As I said, at the beginning of the year I assembled a short list of movies I was excited for this year. Captain America: The Winter Soldier was awesome. Amazing Spider-Man was alright, albeit a little underdone. I have to wait a little while more for Gone Girl, and Guardians of the Galaxy, I’ll see tonight. I’ve really got high hopes for this film though and it looks like it isn’t going to disappoint me. I love the concept of space, I love time travel movies when they’re done right. I love Christopher Nolan movies. I cannot stress anymore how awesome this trailer is and how psyched I am for Interstellar. I hope I can get into an advanced screening for it…
