Avengers: Age of Ultron Review

Preface

  • Yeah, yeah, yeah insert joke here about the, ‘low budget, indie film with a relatively unknown cast’ that I saw tonight.
  • Fact is, Ultron was my second most anticipated of 2015, and OH MY GOD AVENGERS IS AWESOME.
    • I’ll say this: it isn’t perfect, but it met my expectations.

Premise

  • You guys probably know what this movie is about but if you don’t…
  • In the follow-up to 2012’s The Avengers, Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Steve Rogers, Thor, and the rest of the gang accidentally create an AI that is bent on world domination. This globe-trotting film further develops each of the characters without sacrificing laughs, yet also making it darker and much more complex. More on that later.

The Age of Adaline Review

Preface

  • Wow, another movie review!
  • Yeah with all the trailers being released recently, I found it ironic when there were literally no trailers shown before my showing of Age of Adaline tonight!

Premise

  • The Age of Adaline is a romantic drama about a woman named Adaline who magically stops aging, naturally this causes some issues in her personal life (with family and friends and gentlemen friends) and now we get to see it unfold!
  • And while the pacing is off throughout, well, nearly the whole movie it is pretty enjoyable.

Furious 7 Review

Preface

  • First of all, shoutout to my local movie theater who put four great trailers before this movie.
    • Seriously, we had Avengers, Mission Impossible, Mad Max. Good job, my local theater.

Suspension of Disbelief

  • Alright, before I even get into my formal review of this movie I gotta clear something up.
  • This movie is not Dark Knight style realism, this not does not adapt the gritty realism of Casino Royale, this movie is completely wacky ridiculous.
  • And it is ABSURD to say the least. And yeah, it’s really cheesy and has a lot of one-liners, but it’s Fast and the Furious SEVEN.
  • That being said, this movie breaks all barriers on ridiculousness and if you like that crap, you’ll like this movie. If you hate that crap, you’ll hate this movie.
    • I was somewhere in between because I did enjoy this absurdity for the most part.

Insurgent Review

Preface

  • Wait, what? We’re actually doing a new movie review on My Movie Thoughts???

Premise

  • If you guys remember my Top 5 Worst Movies of 2014, you’ll remember I didn’t like Divergent.
    • I felt like it was a carbon copy of The Hunger Games, I didn’t think it had any depth or originality to it. (Check out the Honest Trailer below, because that is a clear statement of every issue I had with this movie.)
    • But I was really optimistic for the sequel because the end looked like the franchise was going in a really cool and original direction.
  • So following the rebellious efforts of Tris and Four (we’re still calling him that?) the two are trying to get support for their cause from some of the other Houses at Hogwarts.
  • And ultimately, there’s this test that’s also kinda looming over everything that questions what it means to be a Divergent.
  • And I’ll be honest, I know you guys REALLY want me to crap all over Insurgent, but compared to Divergent: it’s actually not that horrendous.
