The Martian Review

Preface

  • So, The Martian is the newest movie from Ridley Scott starring Matt Damon and a laundry list of other celebrities.
  • And it’s about Mark Watney (Damon) who is left on Mars, with few resources to survive in the aftermath of a mission gone awry.

Sicario Review

Preface

  • So Sicario is kind of a smaller movie, and it’s the newest movie from director Denis Villeneuve. He directed Prisoners, one of my Top 15 All-Time Favorite Movies, and he’s doing the new Blade Runner, and the guy really has a good eye so I couldn’t wait to see his next project.
  • And Sicario can be described 1 of 3 ways.
  • It’s exactly like the director of Prisoners did a drug cartel movie.
  • It’s like Seven meets The Usual Suspects meets Breaking Bad.
  • It’s awesome. But kinda “hard to watch” awesome.
  • And it was my most Anticipated Movie for the Rest of 2015, besides Star Wars!

  • Does that description sound awful? Probably.
  • Did the trailer to this movie look unwatchable? Yes it did.
  • So how was this movie? SUPER entertaining actually!

  • I FINALLY got around to seeing The End of the Tour, from director James Ponsoldt.
  • James Ponsoldt directed The Spectacular Now, one of my favorite movies from 2013 and a movie that stuck with me for a while after seeing it.
  • So naturally, I was here to review his newest movie that I was extremely excited about!

Premise

  • So The End of the Tour is about this journalist for Rolling Stone named David Lipsky (played by Jesse Eisenberg) and it follows the one week he spent with acclaimed writer David Foster Wallace at the end of Wallace’s book tour.
  • And that’s it. That’s the movie.
