Thank God. If you guys don’t know my thoughts on NBC’s (or now Yahoo’s…) Community, then click here and check out my review. But if I were to summarize it: it’s the best show ever.
And the main reason why I said it was the best show ever was that it involved the fans more than any other show. And it was creative and spontaneous and meta and completely unique in every way.
And the fans saved it! They pulled an Arrested Development if you will. The official report is that the show has been resurrected and will produce 13 new episodes for Yahoo Screen to begin airing this fall. The main cast and crew will be back as well.
The first thing of this review is a big thanks to Yahoo. Thank You Yahoo for bringing back this wonderful show and having faith in it, even when Netflix and Hulu didn’t. I bet you guys will do a great job helping produce the new episodes, and the fans will be very grateful.
And speaking of the fans, thanks to the fans! It’s so inspirational to see people get behind a common cause and support it. Your involvement to resurrect this show was motivation for me to do the same, and actually believe good television can come back. It’s not like Tower Prep, where 12 year-old me recognized it was good, and then it abruptly ended with no support at all from Cartoon Network to bring it back. But I’ll get to that show…
Third thanks goes out to the entire cast and crew who had more faith in this show than belief. Joel McHale, Ali Brie and Gillian Jacobs particularly were the ones who were tweeting ever year to get the show back on, Gillian I think still has her “Renew Community” profile pic on Twitter. And the crew is great too. They’ve been through some tough times with this show, whether it’s cast members leaving, or showrunners getting fired, it’s been a wild ride and you guys were (well most of you were) always there to support this show.
Next thanks is to all of my readers who refuse to check out Community, and have just been putting up with all of these posts. You guys rock, and there won’t be any more of these until a Season 6 review! Don’t worry, lots more stuff coming to put up with. But you guys rock!
And final thanks goes to NBC and Sony Pictures Television. Say what you will about NBC, but they aired this show for 5 great seasons with some trouble along the way. They were the original ones who had faith in it, and you can’t be mad at them! They gave the show repeated chances to prove itself, and finally knew it was time for someone else to do the same. I’m not boycotting them like some fans are, I’m actually going to thank them and wish them luck with all future programming. I’m personally rooting for A to Z… And Sony. You all at Sony who were desperately trying to find a new home for this show before the June 30th midnight deadline. Thank you for getting it to us on June 30th at 5:45 p.m. Time to spare, right?
So no matter who you are, whether it be Joel McHale, the star of the show himself, or just some nobody like myself campaigning for it, or the guy at Yahoo who signed the contract to obtain the show, no matter who it is, all of you helped get my favorite show one last chance. And for that, I can’t even begin to show my gratitude.

So guys, those are my thoughts and thanks of Yahoo’s Resurrection of Community for a Sixth and Final Season. Have you guys seen this show yet? If so, what’s your favorite episode? If not, what is your favorite online streaming network? It’s a bit of a stretch, but hey, so was getting Community back! Whatever those answers may be, let me know down below and as always, thanks for reading guys. #sixseasonsandamovie
I agree, Community has to be one of the best shows out there. I (as I’m sure you were), got really nervous when I heard they might not continue it. I’m so happy Yahoo has come forth as our savior, although I was unaware that Yahoo dabbled in the TV business. Can’t wait for this next season to drop as I’m a hardcore fan.
Totally agree. I heard a few years ago Yahoo was airing some Bachelor-esque spoof, but I thought it as a joke and figured they just showed clips from last week’s SNL. Thanks for reading/commenting and I too can’t wait for Season 6!
