The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part One Official Trailer Review

Let me say right off the bat what I’ve said since the end of June: Mockingjay Part One has the potential to be the best of the Hunger Games films. And this trailer has made me even more confident of that.

I loved the first official trailer to Mockingjay (Part One) so much, I don’t even know where to begin in dissecting it. I guess I loved the tone overall.

Sony Launching Female-Led Spider-Man Spinoff

Yesterday, Sony announced that it would be developing a spin-off to their Amazing Spider-Man franchise with a female hero in the forefront. Before I make a one-line summary, here are two statements: I am NOT a misogynist, and I AM a fan of the Amazing Spider-Man movie series. With that being said, I will now tell you why this idea, from my opinion, is not a good one.

Speculation on Marvel’s Release Dates Through 2019

This isn’t going to be a ‘News’ announcement because you guys have heard by now that last week Marvel announced new release dates through May 2019. Now, I’ve waited until Comic-Con was over to see how many were announced and the grand total was zero! So it seems safe to do a speculation post on what I think will be released on these dates and why. Keep in mind, if you’re reading this, say, a week from now, then I’ve probably already been proven wrong. It’s like a March Madness bracket, I’ll say the first date is such movie then next week that will be proven wrong and it’s all undone. My point is that these are just my thoughts and my speculation, I’m not expecting to get any of these dates right, so just sit back and enjoy with me!

First, a recap on the movies we already know and when they’re confirmed for.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron is due out on May 1st, 2015.
Ant-Man is due out on July 17th, 2015.
Captain America 3 is due out May 6th, 2016.

Now there are eight (8) release dates through May of 2019 and I’ve been going back and forth on whether or not May 2019 will be Avengers 3 or not… For the sake of this article I’m going to put Avengers 3 at the end, but I do think having it earlier is also a safe guess.

Interstellar Trailer 2 Review

If I didn’t stress it in my review of the first Interstellar trailer, I am so excited for Interstellar. I don’t remember mentioning this, but it is my single most anticipated movie of 2014. Guardians of the Galaxy was number 2 (and I’ll see tonight if it lives up to the hype), but I am so excited for this movie. It is actually the lock screen background on my iPod Touch. Yeah, I’m excited and now we have a new trailer for Interstellar that only raises my excitement!

This trailer aired at Comic-Con last week and I’m so thankful that it was released to the public unlike some other trailers… (Avengers Age of Ultron, I’m looking at you.) Regardless, I’m surprised that this movie was promoted at Comic-Con because from the look of this trailer and the professionalism of Christopher Nolan, this looks more like an Oscar film.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part One Teaser Review

I’m kind of surprised this move is only four months away, yet we’re just now seeing footage from the film. Yeah, those Peeta and Snow promotional videos don’t count.

Regardless, I was up at midnight on July 28th, and I was on Facebook when the official Hunger Games page posted the first teaser/trailer to Mockingjay Part One.

I’ve heard a lot of people say that Mockingjay is the installment of the Hunger Games that least needs two parts, and I agree with that, but… I do like the direction this is taking. After I saw Catching Fire, my friends and I were talking and speculating about Mockingjay Part One, and I was telling them all EXACTLY what was going to happen. The first part would be a grittier and darker, more political movie, and the second part will be an all-out rebellion against the Capitol. It will be somewhat like the final two Harry Potter movies, only I imagine Mockingjay Part One will mix HP7 Part One with other material like Affleck’s The Town.
