Spotlight Review

Review

  • So Spotlight is a new investigative journalism movie starring Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, John Slattery, and others.
  • And it’s about this Boston Globe team that’s investigating some of the Church scandals in the Boston area and the politics/psychology behind them all.
  • And despite some issues, I’d say this is a pretty solid movie overall.

Creed Review

Preface

  • I’d just like to take a minute and say how awesome advanced screenings are.
  • I don’t get to many advanced screenings, but tonight I got to see the Rocky spinoff “Creed” TWO FULL WEEKS before it comes out!
  • And that’s pretty awesome.
    • As always, this review is Spoiler-Free, which makes sense, seeing as the movie is still a while away.
  • Also, I wasn’t a huge Rocky fanboy going into this.
  • I had seen the first one, but that was it.
  • Creed, however, stands on its own, though continues to entertain fans of the franchise.
  • And it’s really, really good.

  • I had faith in this movie!
  • And I was not let down. This movie was SO adorable and cute.

Trilogy Time: Back to the Future

Preface

  • Hello everybody!
  • Today is awesome for 2 reasons:
    • Reason 1: I get to talk about three of my favorite movies.
    • Reason 2: It’s Back to the Future Day!
  • Back to the Future Day, as I’m calling it, is October 21st 2015, the day on which Marty McFly arrived in 2015 in Back to the Future Part 2.
    • My local theater is playing all three back-to-back-to-back tonight and I’m looking forward to seeing that!
  • In honor of Back to the Future Day, instead of reviewing Back to the Future Part 2, or the original, or trying to review both, I thought it would be cooler if I did a mini-review for each in the trilogy.
  • That way, I can talk about what makes each one work, talk about each one’s cultural significance, and not feel like it’s too short or vague of a post!
  • So without any further ado, let’s get started with one of the Best Movie Trilogies Ever Made!

Arrow Seasons 1 and 2 Review

Preface

  • Man, it has been a WHILE since we’ve done some TV talk here on My Movie Thoughts!
  • And there IS a reason for that.
  • Movies are great, they’re my favorite thing. Movies are also easy, they’re much less time-consuming.
  • TV takes a lot of time to watch. If I’m reviewing a bad movie, I just have to sit through for 90 minutes or two hours, then rant about it, and go back to the theater the next week to hopefully see something better.
  • With TV, I’m not gonna sit through something for 6-10 seasons if it’s mediocre just to do a review. (Unless that show is Parks and Rec, ohhhh burn!) Unless I hear great things and enjoy the first few episodes, then I’m not gonna spend my time on it, when I could be watching a bunch of movies or hanging out with my friends instead.
  • But…. There are still a few shows that I do watch on a week-by-week basis. The Walking Dead, and Better Call Saul.
  • Arrow hasn’t elevated to that category yet because I binged Seasons 1 and 2 during November of last year, and Season 3 was already about halfway over and I didn’t feel like catching up til it was on Netflix.
  • Well today, Season 3 is on Netflix, so here are my thoughts on a show that I DO definitely recommend you spend your time on!
    • I’ll start watching Season 3 tonight then immediately regret everything I’m about to say…
