American Sniper Review

Preface

  • After this movie was nominated for, what?, 7 or 8 Oscars I decided, hey let’s go see American Sniper!
  • So American Sniper is about this guy named Chris Kyle who is assumed to be the deadliest sniper in the history of America.
  • And it isn’t only a really solid war movie, but it’s a good movie!

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb SPOILER Talk

Preface

  • I don’t always do these Spoiler-Talk Reviews.
    • Interstellar? Yup.
    • Guardians? Yup.
    • Annie? Umm, no thank you…
  • And it turns out I had so much to say about Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, I wanted to recommend the film, give you guys some time to see it too if you haven’t already, and then come back here and here my deeper discussion of the rest.
  • SPOILER WARNING!
  • You can check out my Spoiler-Free Review, and definitely check this movie out!
    • It was a lot better than I thought, and might be better than you think!
  • So I’m going into more spoilers. If you don’t want those ruined, click elsewhere on this site, there’s tons more to read!!
    • Maybe my Spider-Man/Marvel discussion? I put a lot of (almost too much) time into that one.
  • Clicked away?
  • Gone?
  • Good!

2015 Academy Award Nominees Announced!

Preface

  • I’m getting this to you guys a couple days late, and I’m sorry about that.
    • I just had to find the chunks of my brain that flew out after The Lego Movie wasn’t nominated for Best Animated Feature, and try to reassemble those chunks in the proper fashion.
  • Yeah we’ll talk about that snub later, but seriously: yeah I had a ton of projects to finish for the semester at school all day Thursday.
    • Friday I was busy too and worked hard to crank out Night at the Museum Spoiler-Free and Spoiler Filled (you’ll get that later tonight) Reviews.
    • I spent like 2 and a half hours on Spider-Man yesterday and just spent the rest of the day hibernating.
    • NOW here’s the Oscar Nominees Reaction Post!
      • And the American Sniper Review should be out in the next couple days too.
    • Man, January is so much busier for movies than I thought!
    • (Before I start, too, click here for a full list of nominees in the categories I’m gonna discuss!)

RUMOR: Is Spider-Man Going Back to Marvel?

Preface

  • Alright, I really need to talk about this news!
    • Cuz (a) it’s driving me crazy and (2) I’m a Spider-Man fan who hasn’t talked about this news almost at all.
  • During the Sony hacks, the biggest news to come out of it was that discussions had happened between Sony and Marvel about the Spider-Man character, and him possibly being sold back to Marvel.
    • In later emails though, it appeared that these discussions fell through.
  • Then in mid to late December, right as everyone was getting off from school and work for a vacation, another news story came up that Spider-Man was definitely going back to Marvel and appearing in Civil War, AND that Anthony and Joe Russo were signed onto directing a new Spider-Man trilogy at Marvel starting in 2017/2018.
    • But this went away because no major news outlets were covering it.
  • And NOW, Latino Review is reporting that Spider-Man missed the train for Civil War, though he is absolutely, positively, certainly, definitely, completely, wholeheartedly appearing in Avengers: Infinity War Part 1.
    • Latino Review isn’t the MOST trustworthy when I’m looking for movie news.
      • Typically I see Entertainment Weekly’s Facebook post about a news story, by which point it’s about as close to fact as it’s gonna get.
    • But I’m so tired of seeing these rumors that have been going around since God-knows-when, and know that everyone’s talking about it again, I’m gonna talk about it!
  • So remember, this is still a rumor for now, I’m gonna speculate what I think will happen, or what would be best to happen, though nothing is confirmed, and none of this may ever happen.
  • Super long intro is now done, so let’s go!

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb Review

Preface

  • The first Night at the Museum came out in 2006, when I was a kid and I really loved that movie.
    • Looking back on it now, it was a fun time with a really solid story and some good laughs.
  • Then I saw the second when it came out in 2009. And I didn’t like it as much as the first because the first was so new and defining!
    • Looking back now, yeah the script wasn’t as solid and it felt like kind of a cash-grab sequel.
    • Still a fun time, though maybe not a fresh review…
  • And I saw Secret of the Tomb tonight (finally) with some of my friends and all I wanted was some fun, childish humor and a couple good performances, and that would be enough to keep me entertained.
    • Man, I was wrong!!
      • As usual!
    • This wasn’t Pixar or Disney level film, but it was really solid, and super enjoyable!
