Ben Affleck Officially Directing and Co-Writing Solo Batman Movie!

Preface

  • Man is that a long title…

Premise

  • Okay, so if you guys haven’t heard: it broke late yesterday that Ben Affleck will not only star as Batman in the DC Cinematic Universe, but he will also direct and co-write the first Batman standalone movie.
  • And I don’t 100% LOVE this news, but I’m a fan of it, I’m optimistic!

Minions Review

Preface

  • Alright it just broke that Ben Affleck is directing and co-writing the next standalone Batman movie. It’s pretty late at night, I have to wake up early tomorrow so I can only talk about one thing…
  • Yeah Minions is more fresh in my head.
  • And funny enough, I never saw Despicable Me 2…
  • The first Despicable Me I thought was okay, I suppose… Nothing super special.
  • And though this Minions movie wasn’t perfect by any means, I had a pretty good time with it!

Premise

  • Okay, so Minions is the story of those little yellow potato things from the Despicable Me movies, only this time they’re the headliners.
  • This thing takes place in 1968 and it’s the Minions running around in the ‘60s, pulling shenanigans and such.
  • And yeah, it’s very enjoyable.
  • Here is the bottom line up front before I go into the specifics: kids and fans of the Despicable Me movies will LOVE this movie. If you loved the Despicable Me movies, you’ll love this movie too. I wasn’t a Despicable Me fanboy going in, and even then there’s still a lot of fun to be had with this movie, even if it gets fairly stupid at times.

Top 5 Movies With “America” in the Title

Preface

  • About a month ago, I realized not only that a lot of movies have the word “America” or “American” in the title, but a lot of them that do are phenomenal movies.
  • So in honor of Independence Day, these are 5 of my favorites, in no particular order.
    • And yes I do get a lot of international viewership on this site. Sorry guys…
  • Not every “America”/”American” movie will be on this list either, I haven’t seen Team America: World Police or American History X, sorry… Feel free to leave your favorites in the comments below!
  • And these aren’t the greatest films ever made, just ones that I enjoy and would consider popping in tonight!

Scream TV Series Premiere Review

Preface

  • Scream being my favorite horror movie, I was pleased to hear that it was coming back in a way in which I get to see more of it each week.
  • But I was also cautious that it was airing on MTV, and that they were bringing in a new Ghostface and…
  • Well it’s essentially a reboot at this point.
  • But nevertheless, I was cautiously optimistic going in and I thought was… Well it was okay.
  • There are aspects of this show that work so far, there are aspects that don’t, which makes it hard to just review a premiere episode but I’ll touch on some stuff that I want them to do over the course of the season and say that there are some things that are deal-breakers, others that aren’t.

Premise

  • So the rebooted TV Scream Series follows a new motley crew of super attractive early 20-somethings playing teenagers (hey, just like the real Scream!) and there’s a new Ghostface on the loose slashing people up.
  • There’s also ties to an older murder case in the town, and a whole lot of other slimy and shady stuff going on with the characters.
  • And the characters are supposed to be the driving point of this show.

Terminator: Genisys Review

Preface

  • Alright, now if you asked me a year ago before all the spelling-changes and trailers I would’ve said that Terminator: Genesis sounded super cool and could be a dark and gritty story like all the ones we seem to get nowadays.
    • Like how the new Fantastic Four looks.
  • If you asked me a week or two weeks ago, I’d say, “okay friend, here’s why I’m extremely worried and don’t think that movie’s gonna be good…”
  • If you ask me after seeing the movie though I can thoroughly say:
  • I had a really fun time with the first half of this movie. The second half got a bit convoluted…
  • And you guys are gonna hear me use the word “functional” more in this review than I ever have on this site before… Be forewarned.

Premise

  • And yes, I did put the bad trailer above not the spoiler-filled one.
  • Trust me, don’t even watch a trailer going into this movie. More on that later.
  • But anyways, Terminator: Jenny Smith is the story of the rebooted Terminator franchise!
  • It’s a very, very long and hard plot to describe but ultimately it’s a retelling of the events from the first two (especially the first) Terminator movies and then kind of fixing everything in the Terminator universe so they can work clean going forward.
  • And that’s what it’s about. Mostly…?
