RUMOR: Is Spider-Man Going Back to Marvel?

Preface

  • Alright, I really need to talk about this news!
    • Cuz (a) it’s driving me crazy and (2) I’m a Spider-Man fan who hasn’t talked about this news almost at all.
  • During the Sony hacks, the biggest news to come out of it was that discussions had happened between Sony and Marvel about the Spider-Man character, and him possibly being sold back to Marvel.
    • In later emails though, it appeared that these discussions fell through.
  • Then in mid to late December, right as everyone was getting off from school and work for a vacation, another news story came up that Spider-Man was definitely going back to Marvel and appearing in Civil War, AND that Anthony and Joe Russo were signed onto directing a new Spider-Man trilogy at Marvel starting in 2017/2018.
    • But this went away because no major news outlets were covering it.
  • And NOW, Latino Review is reporting that Spider-Man missed the train for Civil War, though he is absolutely, positively, certainly, definitely, completely, wholeheartedly appearing in Avengers: Infinity War Part 1.
    • Latino Review isn’t the MOST trustworthy when I’m looking for movie news.
      • Typically I see Entertainment Weekly’s Facebook post about a news story, by which point it’s about as close to fact as it’s gonna get.
    • But I’m so tired of seeing these rumors that have been going around since God-knows-when, and know that everyone’s talking about it again, I’m gonna talk about it!
  • So remember, this is still a rumor for now, I’m gonna speculate what I think will happen, or what would be best to happen, though nothing is confirmed, and none of this may ever happen.
  • Super long intro is now done, so let’s go!

The Avengers: Age of Ultron Teaser Review

I promise, I’ll get back to actually reviewing movies soon, but how can I when the age of movie trailers and news is so heavily in effect!

Yeah, we were all wondering how Marvel would out-do DC’s slate of a bajillion movies in the next six years, and here it is friends.

This trailer looks like Age of Ultron is about to improve upon the original Avengers in every way possible. Let me make it clear: I loved the first Avengers. After Iron Man 3 and Guardians (maybe or maybe not in that order), it’s my favorite Marvel movie. 5/5, it’s done. That being said, people really get on my case when I say the Avengers was a very simple movie that wasn’t all that deep. I still loved it.

DC Reveals Official Slate Through 2020!

There is a TON of news running around the Internet. Just as I was sitting down to do my thoughts on Robert Downey Jr. in Captain America 3, this gargantuan piece of movie news hit the web.

Also, let it be known that I did a post a few months ago discussing the “leaked slate” that turned out to be false. This one’s from a good source (Mr. DC) so let’s talk about it!

The first bit of news coming out of this DC Announcement is Ezra Miller has been cast as Barry Allen/The Flash. When I first saw that on my Facebook timeline, I thought to myself, “huh, that’s weird… But it might just be great.” And I’ll be the first to say it: I did not see that announcement coming. Everyone was expecting Scoot McNairy to be Flash (I personally thought he’d be Nightwing), and DC really surprised us, this time for the better. I think if Ezra Miller brings the energy that he has, but doesn’t give too much energy, his version of Flash could be really effective.
