Stranger Things Season 1 Review

Preface/Premise

So if you guys haven’t heard by now, Stranger Things is a show that just dropped on Netflix.
And basically it takes place in 1983 and feels like Stephen King meets E.T. or Super 8 with more government secrets.
It follows this group of kids who are trying to solve a mystery, meanwhile there’s a lot of shady government stuff going on in a nearby lab.
It’s SUPER hard not to ruin this show, but I’m gonna do my best, and the short version of this review is: WATCH IT.
It’s only 8 Episodes, it’s on Netflix right now, have fun!

The Office Review

Preface

So guys, movies are my primary thing, but every now and again there’s a TV show that I check out for the first time, binge watch, and then REALLY want to talk about.
And over the past month or so, I watched The Office, which aired on NBC from 2005 to 2013.
And I swear to God, this is one of the best comedy series I have ever seen.

Wow, so nearly a year after its initial release I FINALLY watched and finished Daredevil Season 1!
This past week I just set my mind to it and watched two episodes a day, finally wrapping it up last night.
So now let’s talk about it!

Premise

So Daredevil is a Netflix series set in the Marvel Universe, but it’s kind of a departure from all the other content Marvel has produced so far.
Like Jessica Jones (Marvel’s other Netflix show), it’s much more mature, much bloodier, and really spends a lot of time focusing on its story with less explosions and more development.
And Daredevil centers on Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer with enhanced senses who can ‘see’ everything around him despite not being able to actually see.
But then conflict comes in the form of Wilson Fisk, a corrupt business man who wants to re-build Hell’s Kitchen (Murdock’s part of New York) in his image.
And well, overall, the show is pretty good!

Alright guys, we end a busy month of Movie Reviews on My Movie Thoughts with a TV Show Review!
And that TV Show is Netflix and Marvel’s Jessica Jones.
Jessica Jones centers on a former superhero and current private investigator (Jessica Jones…) as she comes back into contact with a familiar face from her past.
And this show is dark, twisted, depressing, and brilliant all rolled into one.

Man, it has been a WHILE since we’ve done some TV talk here on My Movie Thoughts!
And there IS a reason for that.
Movies are great, they’re my favorite thing. Movies are also easy, they’re much less time-consuming.
TV takes a lot of time to watch. If I’m reviewing a bad movie, I just have to sit through for 90 minutes or two hours, then rant about it, and go back to the theater the next week to hopefully see something better.
With TV, I’m not gonna sit through something for 6-10 seasons if it’s mediocre just to do a review. (Unless that show is Parks and Rec, ohhhh burn!) Unless I hear great things and enjoy the first few episodes, then I’m not gonna spend my time on it, when I could be watching a bunch of movies or hanging out with my friends instead.
But…. There are still a few shows that I do watch on a week-by-week basis. The Walking Dead, and Better Call Saul.
Arrow hasn’t elevated to that category yet because I binged Seasons 1 and 2 during November of last year, and Season 3 was already about halfway over and I didn’t feel like catching up til it was on Netflix.
Well today, Season 3 is on Netflix, so here are my thoughts on a show that I DO definitely recommend you spend your time on!
- I’ll start watching Season 3 tonight then immediately regret everything I’m about to say…
